Awake

-Are you a God?
- they asked the Buddha.
- No.
- Are you an angel, then?
- No.
- A saint?
- No.
- Then what are you?
-
I am AWAKE.

Om Mani Padme Hum

Matthew 25:40

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Matthew 7 1-6

1. Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4. Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5. Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
6. Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

TSA, FBI and Everybody Else Overreacts

Picture from The Denver Post of the TSA in action
I found this article on Yahoo Sports. Link to Original Article  What I just can't figure out is where is their common sense? These idiots shut down an airport,  forced HUNDREDS of people out into cold night air (this is Alaska), people missed flights, and threw the someone in jail, all because another idiot made a joke, a stupid joke about a bomb. One reason I refuse to fly is the intense level of terror that the TSA promotes as they try to validate their "need."  They want us the public to believe they're necessary to "keep us safe." They don't want us to realize, or remember, that we flew safely for decades before anyone ever heard of the TSA. Back to where is their common sense, WHY didn't one of the morons that are making 18-20k a year "protecting" us just open the bag? Ok, toss the joker in jail, it's overreaction but ok, but why evacuate, etc? Open the bag, see no bomb, and back to business as usual. But of course then we might realize we don't need them.  By the way neither picure is from the article, from the Denver Post just showing you what "our protectors" are up to.

NCAA hockey referee arrested for joke about bomb at Alaska airport

When he isn't getting arrested for making inappropriate jokes about bombs in an airport, Peter Friesema is a referee for the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and the Central Hockey League.
Late Saturday night, Freisema was returning from a UAA tournament through Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport in Anchorage. The gate agent accidentally placed Freisema's luggage sticker on his traveling companion's bag, but he was told it was no big deal since they were both headed to the same destination and because the bags were already on the belt.
Then Freisema, 44, did what we all want to do at airports, but undoubtedly know what the repercussions are for doing so; i.e., make a witty, wholly inappropriate joke at the expense of an oversensitive atmosphere.
From the Anchorage Daily News:
What Friesema said next temporarily shut down the airport, forced hundreds of passengers into the cold night air, caused many to miss connections, and landed him in jail. "But my friend's bag has a bomb in it," the agent remembers him saying, according to a charging document. He recounted it to authorities slightly differently, more to the effect of "what if my friend's bag has a bomb in it?"
Either way, his comment was "perhaps an effort to be funny or flirtatious," Assistant District Attorney Adam Alexander said Sunday before Friesema made a court appearance.
("Flirtatious?" Oh dear … it's the root of all men's ill-timed jokes, isn't it?)
As a result of his quip, the airport was evacuated (!) until 3 a.m. and Friesema was charged with disorderly conduct. The Daily News reports that the FBI is considering other charges, which could include making terrorist threats; i.e., joking about a bomb and causing the evacuation of a public place.
[NHL on Yahoo! Sports: Oilers' young stars embrace AHL experience during lockout]
Friesema was ordered to remain in Alaska by a judge on Sunday, which probably doesn't bode well for upcoming officiating gigs.
Goon's World received a "no comment" from the WCHA regarding the situation, but with the story having gone national, one wonders how long the league can go without addressing it.
Hopefully this all blows over so Friesema can get back to work; and by that we mean making jokes about having viral meningitis in a crowded hospital lobby and/or about carrying a shot gun to a speech by the president.
As for hockey … how fast does the first player who chirps him with "what are you going to do, put a bomb in my bag?" get a game misconduct?
UPDATE: The WCHA has released a statement --
The Western Collegiate Hockey Association today (Oct. 15) announced that men's referee Peter Friesema has been suspended indefinitely from his officiating duties with the league pending a review of an off-ice incident that occurred at the Anchorage International Airport on Sunday, Oct. 14.
The WCHA will have no comment on this matter until all the facts have been gathered and the investigation complete

Why U.S. Media Won’t Show You These Protests

I found this article on Care 2 make a difference.   Link to Care 2

I've known for a long time that the news that we citizens of the US see is severely edited. Even that from this country, our own country, such as the occupy movement, or even bad storms, anything that those in the government think will disturb hoi polloi, which can be taken to mean the lower masses, or the upper, the elite, depending on point of view, (by the way two comments, this is a greek phrase hoi = the Polloi = many which I'm adding here for those that think I should have put the in front.  Also using it to mean the elite, or upper classes is incorrect, but hey everybody else is doing it...).
Anyway, our government, our "leaders" elected, and unelected, are sure they know what's best for us hoi polloi, us bourgeois, us proletariat, the great huddled masses, the common man (and women), Joe and Joesephine Sixpack, enough sarcasm. I think, you get the idea that they, the infamous they, all think they're better, and smarter than us. That we "for our own good" should listen, letting them tell us where to go, what to do, when to do it. Much like in the military we poor, ignorant, primative privates must do whatever the intelligent, evolved general tells us, no matter if the private knows better, or if the general is an idiot.
They are terrified that we will think for ourselves, so every time it happens on a relatively small scale, they send in the police to put it down. Whether it's something like the Zoot Suit riots, or Kent State, or Occupy it's always the same send in the police, or the national guard, or both. They're now looking at modifying or eliminating the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 which contrary to popular belief didn't forbid use of the army against US citizens it just limited the local governments ability to use them to enforce law. I have to wonder what's going to happen when it's not on a small scale, but on a huge scale like in Spain, how will they handle it then?
I have to wonder too, why, just as happened in Nazi Germany, and many other countries throughout the world, including us, Kent State for example, WHY people turn on other people like rabid dogs, why Americans turn on other Americans, beating and tazing, and killing their friends and neighbors, possibly their own mother and fathers, their own brothers and sisters, wives/husbands, their own kids. It just makes no sense why they don't say NO!!! Are they that afraid? Are they that controlled? Do they just love to kill, no matter who, or why?  Have their brains been washed to that extent, or are they just robots with no mind of their own at all?
Back to where I started, the same thing applies to international news, they are terrified that we'll find out what's going on in the world, and again start to think for ourselves. Do like me go online and read the real news, not just that by what I call Pravda West. Well read the article, watch the videos, and make up your own minds.

Why U.S. Media Won’t Show You These Protests

Why U.S. Media Won’t Show You These Protests
In recent weeks, hundreds of thousands of people in Spain have held a series of protests against their government, calling for an end to ongoing austerity measures. It’s big news, and yet, if you’re like most Americans, you’re not even aware of the Spanish uprisings.
And while part of that can be chalked up to a tendency to gloss over international issues, it goes deeper than that. The mainstream media covers other foreign protest movements like the Arab Spring, but with something like Tahrir Square, they can also attach the slant that the Egyptian people were fighting for democracy, a very pro-American notion.
Spain, however, already has a democracy. It also has a failing economy caused by the banks, as well as a government that protects the interests of the elite over its general population.
Sound familiar? The Spanish’s people attempt to take back their country could just as well take place in the United States. Frankly, the corporate-controlled American media doesn’t want to give anyone any ideas.
Especially given the popularity of the movement in Spain. Anytime you can get tens of thousands of people to surround a Congressional building and shut down business as usual is a threat to the system. Of course, you’re bound to get a lot of people into the streets with a nearly 25% unemployment rate. And with the government instituting higher taxes and more cutbacks on social services and benefits, the people are similarly bound to reach a point where they will no longer stand for it.
Another thing the media doesn’t want you to know is that the movement is spreading. Currently, anti-austerity protests can be found in Greece and Portugal, too. Though the people are rallying against their respective governments, they have a shared struggle and justifiable rage that the countries’ richest individuals caused the financial problems, while the hardships and sacrifices are being thrust upon the working class.
Make no mistake: the powers that be see these protests as a legitimate threat. Why else, then, would they use the police to brutally beat and suppress the protesters? The videos that have emerged are frightening.
Warning: all of the below videos contain violence.

I imagine it’s hard to stay committed to non-violence while being struck repeatedly in the face with a club.

Of course, the American media does not want you to see these images, either. They don’t want you to see how a “civilized” government would brutalize its own people, much in the same way that the police impede journalists from capturing the oppression of protesters here in America.

The message from the police beatings is clear: do not voice dissent against the government. Despite these clear threats, the Spanish people have not been deterred, continuing to assemble en masse with tens of thousands taking to the streets again on Sunday.
Spanish unions are calling for a national strike in November if the government makes further cuts in the face of the overwhelming populous opposition. If the whole country effectively shuts down due to the power of the people, you can bet that’s another thing the American media won’t want you to see. Even if the American media won’t cover it – or perhaps because the American media won’t cover it – it’s certainly going to be a story worth following.
