As a background was diagnosed with Type 2 diabeties mid May of this year. They told me to focus on diet and exercise, and come back in three months, which told me they didn't seem to take it too seriously. I on the other hand took it very seriously, as it runs in my family, both my father and my maternal grandfather had it, at least. I had seen my father's blood sugar jump to over 700, which put him in intensive care and affected his mind. So it scared me, I'll admit it.
I googled herbs=diabeties and the first thing I came across was Bitter Melon. I started taking it as soon as I could get it, and it works. My readings dropped about 150 points to mid 100's average.
Then searching further I came across an herb called Black Seed, also an ancient herb, used for diabeties. It was endorsed by no less than the Prophet Mohammed, who said that Black Seed would cure anything except death. A pretty strong endorsement. I'm on the second or third day of taking it, and so far no difference in readings, but it probably takes awhile to kick in.
Over the last couple days, I did more research and discovered another herb, also Indian, called Gymnema Sylvestre, from southern and central India, that has been used for diabeties for thousands of years. It is being studied, but isn't completely understood as yet as to how it works, but it is known to reduce blood sugar when used, although it does take time to begin working. It's also thought to reduce tryglicerides and cholesterol, and preliminary studies with type 2 diabetics back this up, but further studies are needed.
As I've said before it'll be interesting to see what happens. I go back to the Dr later this month, it'll also be interesting to see what they have to say about my progress, or lack of it.
